Ethnicity Represented in Media

There are both positive and negative representation of ethnic minorities in the media, unfortunately there seems to be more negative then there are positive, then this effects the way that the population sees them, when it is the minority that makes the majority look bad.

One big negative representation in the media at the moment is ISIS. The Daily Mail are making a big deal out of it on their website, with 10 big stories about things that ISIS are doing, with the big one being the fact that they have set up cinemas for anyone to enter, and they play the actions that they have done, like burning people or beheading people.

This is a very recent article from the Daily Mail on their website. It shows young boys watching all this happening and not seem to be affected by it. This, and the whole representation of ISIS is a dangerous one, they are showing basically all the bad things that they are doing all the time, keeping on top of it. With this print based text it is the pictures that they use that puts the strong meaning across. There are thousands of people in Syria, and even though in all these photos there are probably only about 20 people, it still represents the whole country, showing the minority putting out a bad representation of the majority. This is the trick of the media, it seems as though they like to portray the minority so that they can make the majority look bad and, so that people think the way that the media wants them to as the media basically has the power to represent people in any way that they want to.
